Evaluation
Storyboard. When it comes to the planning of the short film i wanted to reference the film in the screenshot below. i wanted to have a similar shot but have my own twist on it. So i decided to reverse so i would have the integrator in light and the suspect in.
In this document I will be evaluating my short film sequence discussing all of the tools and techniques that i used to create the image that I ended up with. This will include things like angles lenses ISO e.c.t.
The Opening shot of my sequence is one of my favourite
shots. I believe that the lighting skills and techniques that I have used in
this shot pays true homage to classic Noir films. In this shot a character is
seen making a shady deal with a random person and starts to walk away. With the
positioning with the lights I made the characters shadows seem very large and
stretched out on the floor and wall. I did this to have a visual representation
of the darkness that resides within the people of the wicked world that I have
created. This is also something that I’ve seen in many Noir films for example
double indemnity.
Another shot that I liked in my short sequence is the one
that follows the last mentioned shot where other men walk out of the shadows
wearing their trench coats and surround the character that goes by the name
Teemo. I feel that I used the lighting available to really set the tone as
Teemo was the only character that can be clearly seen and the rest of the
people that are surrounding him are half in the light. This can be seen in the
screenshot blow.
In this shot i used a technique that is referred to as three
point lighting. In the shot you have see two characters in a interrogation
scene. One is strapped to a chair, the lighting in this scene are positioned in
a triangle around them casting multiple shadows in different directions. The
reason that I did this was to create the illusion on many angles in one,
allowing the viewers different perspectives as the two share their dialogue.
This can be seen in the screenshot below.

The last shot that I want to discuss is the final scene
where the main character looks out the window to see flashing blue and red
police lights. Initially this was impossible to achieve as I did not have the
resources to create this scene but then i had an idea to stand up to panel
lights out of frame and then use two colour filters to change the light giving
the illusion of police lights
in all of these shots and through my film had had maintained certain setting on the camera to give me the look that i wanted to have. this id including things like Iso shutter speed and exposer. because most if not all of my scene in the film was shot at night the exposer was put at close to its max.
The iso of the film was constantly around 600.
Post production-
there was a lot of work done during post production to my film. The main features that i wanted to use were only possilbe through editing. the editing software that i used to dit my film is Final cut pro. during editing the bigest thing that i had done was to apply a 90's Tv filter to all of my shots giving then an olden look that is very relatable to the Film Noir genre along side this i added some transitions to represent the movement of time to the audience. this can be seen in the screenshot below.

Another thing that i did in editing was the basic cutting and moving around scenes so they could flow properly without it looking disconnected or un natural. they way i did this was using the cut function and a range of other tools located on the tools bar as shown in the
screenshot below.
The last objective that i had to do in editing was making the audio was on pint. i had sample audio and music sample that i had recorded and or downloaded onto my devise which i then moved and put into final cut pro where it was then played with to match the corresponding scene. This can be seen in the screenshot below.

In conclusion i believe that I used a wide range
of camera and lighting techniques and camera settings to give my short sequence a darker tone with a defined characters a bolder outline as
a classic film Noir. Along with the sound I also feel like the post production was good in terms of editing. if i had the opportunity i would spend more time with the filming and maybe gather a bigger cas
